On past 9th of July an inhabitant of Torre Pacheco was attacked by a group of people, supposedly Moroccans. Afterwards fascist squads have marched through the streets of the town with total impunity, and “hunts” for immigrants have been organized. Torre Pacheco is a municipality with a high percentage of migrant population, many of them who work in the countryside, fishing, and agriculture.

From that moment on, happened the following: fascist groups took advantage of the situation to launch their campaign of attacks against immigrants, organizing it through multiple social media groups and other means, and attracting fascist militants from all over the Spanish State to the area. The fascist militants have attacked the immigrant population of the town. More than 40 fascists armed with sticks stormed a kebab restaurant owned by a Moroccan inhabitant, causing significant damage.

One of the most influential groups in the fascist mobilizations was “Deport Them Now”. The leader of this organization has been detained recently. Also several other fascists who participated in the recent riots have been arrested. However, these arrests cannot hide the shameful actions of the Spanish State, where it has been evident that the repressive forces treated the fascists with leniency, allowing them to act freely, and there have even been signs of friendship and complicity between the police and the fascists.

Servir al Pueblo explains that these mobilizations occur “within a general framework of violence and criminalization against immigrants in the Spanish State.” As a result, there have been episodes of violence against migrants in Aldaia (València), a racist murder by the police in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), and more. The Spanish revolutionary media reaffirms its thesis on how to deal with this problem and combat fascist terrorism: “It is essential to elevate self-defense. We must unite to combat imperialist chauvinism and fascist terrorism. If the reaction is armed with machetes and bats, the response from the class must be proportional. The proletariat must organize itself and put an end to fascist impunity. And of course, we must eradicate the false idea from the labor movement that we are living in times of peace. Such ideas are false; international and national events show that we are living in times of war, and the proletariat must prepare itself to face it. The opposite would lead the class to capitulation. Everyone must take the issue of self-defense as urgent and necessary.”
