France – Lille: Creation of the People’s Committee for Mutual Aid and Solidarity
La Cause du Peuple has reported recently on the creation of a new People’s Committee for Mutual Aid and Solidarity (CPES). On this occasion has been founded in the neighborhood of Concorde in Lille, on June 11. The establishment of this organization takes place after more than a month of agitation against demolitions and a meeting with the inhabitants of the neighborhood.
The inhabitants have discussed problems they face, which are ignored by the landlord, Lille Métropole Habitat (LMH). Posters appeared throughout the neighborhood demanding that LMH takes responsibility and calling on local residents to join the CPES to struggle.
Moreover La Cause du Peuple denounces that the landlord plans to completely demolish the neighborhood on long term. Now the inhabitants had enough of these injustices and have decided to organize themselves in a CPES.
