In City of Mexico, the third march against gentrification was scheduled for this Saturday, but once again, the counter-insurgent action of the City government, as outlined in its security protocol for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, thwarted the efforts of the organizers, preventing the march from taking place in a unified manner. Even before the concentration began, the opportunistic Clara Brugada, Head of Government, deployed hundreds of anti-riot police and implemented an operation in the metro and surrounding streets of the Juárez Hemicycle to search backpacks and personal belongings, aiming to confiscate aerosol cans, glue, and other common objects used in mobilizations. Originally, the mobilization aimed to reach the US Embassy, prompting the US government to issue a security alert for its citizens in our country. However, after the operation, containment, and some small skirmishes, the contingent split, with the moderate part holding a sit-in at the concentration site, intimidated by tyranny, while some activists decided to advance towards the Zócalo, making some graffiti and chanting slogans. Following this counter-insurgent action, where the city government applied the “divide and conquer” strategy, the capital’s authorities reported a “white balance.”

This situation speaks not only to the orchestrated action by the regime to disarticulate the anti-gentrification movement but also to the weakness of this movement, which continues to bet on spontaneous action, lack of planning, discipline, and proletarian direction. The fight against gentrification requires precisely a proletarian conception to guarantee its connection with the broad and deep masses of the people, who are ultimately the main ones affected by this phenomenon.

In Michoacán, the indigenous P’urhépecha community of Cherán K’eri, following the armed attacks by organized crime on July 2, has determined through a general assembly to prohibit the sale of intoxicating beverages throughout the community, as well as to establish a curfew from 11 PM to an indefinite time, Monday to Sunday, as preventive measures to safeguard the integrity of the inhabitants, community security, and indigenous self-government. In the same state, organized crime has perpetrated a new attack against another indigenous community and its self-government.

In the town of Las Haciendas, municipality of Aquila, on July 25, a community guard and two 12-year-old children were killed, according to a complaint filed by the communal authorities of the Nahuatl Communal Council of El Coire.

These attacks have alerted the indigenous communities of the state, who have a long history of struggle in defense of self-government and community security. In response, the Nahua Communal Council of El Coire has issued a statement, taking a stance against the disinformation campaign launched by the old State.

In Guerrero, the reactionary violence of the large landholdings continues to escalate against indigenous peoples and agrarian communities, as seen on July 21, when an armed group of over 300 people entered the community of Cruz Fandango, leaving two people injured by gunfire and nine people kidnapped, who were taken to the municipal jail of Cuyuxtlahuac. Among the detainees were two minors and four women, who were released that night, according to a complaint filed by the Tlachinollan Mountain Human Rights Center.

None of these issues are unrelated; they all form part of the same spiral of violence generated by the war against the people, imposed by the old landowner-bureaucratic State through its armed forces (both legal and illegal). It is essential that agrarian communities and indigenous peoples promote their resistance processes, developing a revolutionary program that guarantees the liberation of territories and the exercise of embryos of New Power. In this sense, the Meeting of Authorities and Topiles to be held in Oaxaca on August 8 and 9 allows for the continued construction of this political line in the struggle for land and national liberation. Stop the war against the people!
