Turkey: PŞTA – Farewell to Partizan veteran Gazi Ünder

We hereby share an unofficial translation of an article published by Partizan Martyrs and Prisoners Families (PŞTA).

Partizan veteran Gazi Ünder, who lost his life on his return from the AGEB (Union of Migrant Workers in Europe) camp on August 7, was laid to rest following the funeral ceremony held at the Kartal Cemetery.

At the funeral ceremony attended by his family, friends and comrades, a speech was made on behalf of the Partizan Martyrs’ and Prisoners’ Families:

We bid farewell to our comrade Gazi Ünder. Our pain is immense; we shoulder the honorable struggle our comrade left us and embrace his legacy. We walked together with our Gazi on the path leading to the golden age in the virtuous struggle of human history. We resisted shoulder to shoulder in our childhood years; we resisted fascism fearlessly in every field in our class struggle. We stood in all the trenches to ensure that the fight was everywhere. Comrade Gazi marched in the front lines of this struggle. Undaunted and fearless, he always upheld the banner of resistance. He engraved in our hearts the fallen of our struggle. Today, he leaves us as a fighting worker, whose memory memory will live on our struggle. We salute him with respect. Comrade Gazi is immortal.

Ünder was buried in Kartal Soğanlı Cemetery.
