The explosion occurred in the morning of Monday, August 18 in Indravati National Park area when a team of DRG, a unit of the State paramilitaries, was out on an anti-Maoist operation. A paramilitary was eliminated and three other were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Maoist guerrillas went off in Bijapur district.
This incident comes just days after another DRG officer was injured in a similar IED blast in the Bhairamgarh police station area on August 14.
According to the repressive forces, they found recently several IED’s and caches of weapons, ammunition and explosives in the area. This shows a persistent guerrilla presence in the area, despite that the old Indian State’s Home Minister Amit Shah has stated repeatedly that India will be “Naxal-Free” by March 2026.
