Austria: Actions in solidarity with the forcefully disappeared in Mexico

We share an unofficial translation of a report found in Rote Fahne Austria.

August 30th is the International Day of the Disappeared and Forcefully Disappeared. In Mexico, over 130,000 people have been made to disappear by the Mexican State and its henchmen. One of the most well known is Dr. Ernesto Sernas García. There have also been calls in Austria for him to be presented alive.

On the weekend of August 30 and 31, ADRV (Action for the Democratic Rights of the People) activists organized activities for the international campaign commemorating the aforementioned anniversary. They raised the demands put forward by the democratic and revolutionary organization “Current of the People – Red Sun” (Corriente del Pueblo Sol Rojo), calling for the presentation of comrade Dr. Ernesto Sernas García and the other disappeared, alive. The democratic and revolutionary movement in Mexico has been fighting for decades against these State atrocities against the people, and in particular against the forceful disappearances of democratic and revolutionary activists and people’s fighters.

The actions took place at the Volksstimmefest, a major political and cultural festival in Vienna. Numerous passersby and festival participants from various countries supported the action.
