Chhattisgarh, India: Booby traps against Operation Kagaar

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a recent report from Dem Volke Dienen on recent actions of the People’s War in India.

Two paramilitaries from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were seriously injured last Thursday in the Dantewada district in southern Chhattisgarh. Their patrol was targeted by an improvised explosive device (IED) that, according to media reports, was detonated by Maoist insurgents.

The attack once again highlighted the ongoing threat to the old state posed by the Indian revolution, even though the mainstream media has recently been publishing one supposed victory report after another.

The area around Barsur and Malewahi is known for its movement against large-scale projects by foreign and domestic monopolies that are intended to plunder the people and the environment.

On Thursday morning around 10:30 a.m., along the road from Barsur to Palli, the 195th CRPF battalion was conducting an operation as part of the genocidal Operation Kagaar when the booby trap detonated. In order to treat and evacuate the wounded, the reactionary forces sent reinforcements to secure the area.

Even the reactionary Indian media must admit that supposed “successes against the rebels are often met with asymmetrical retaliatory attacks,” and it was also acknowledged that nearby Abujhmad remains a “stronghold of the Maoists.” Last year, more than a thousand similar booby traps were recorded in the region.
