Ecuador: IT IS RIGHT TO REBEL!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a recent statement from the Defense Front of the Peoples’ Struggles in Ecuadoron the increase in diesel prices.

THE INCREASE IN DIESEL PRICES IS AN OPEN DECLARATION OF WAR ON THE PEOPLE!

Defense Front of the Peoples’ Struggles in Ecuador strongly denounces and condemns the decision by Daniel Noboa’s fascist regime to increase the price of diesel, obeying direct orders from the International Monetary Fund. This measure, disguised as an “economic adjustment,” is in reality a criminal policy that seeks to unload the crisis of bureaucratic capitalism onto the shoulders of the people in order to guarantee the profits of bankers, monopolies, business mafias, and big landlords.

Nothing and no one can justify this measure, much less deny the harsh impact it will have on the popular economy.

The price of food and basic goods will skyrocket. Potatoes, rice, milk, bread, and all the products that travel across the country in trucks and vans will become more expensive. Hunger will grow in working-class and peasant households while the government talks about “fiscal stability.”

Wages, already miserable in the face of basic necessities costing twice as much, will be pulverized in the face of induced inflation. This measure is a direct assault on the people’s pockets, a blatant expropriation of workers and poor peasants to satisfy the demands of the IMF.

People of Ecuador: The response to the government must be combative; there is no room for “negotiation,” resignation, or silence. The people must understand that they are declaring war on us, and the only possible response is organized, firm, and combative struggle.

The response must be organized, comprehensive, and indefinite. As we move forward, we must identify and combat the leaders of transport workers, indigenous peoples, people’s movements, peasants, and unions who remain timid and take positions of “negotiation” and demobilization, turning their backs on the legitimate and unyielding positions of the vast majority.

Let the workers, peasants, and people’s masses paralyze the country’s production and transportation!

Let the peasants and indigenous peoples return to the path of dignity and combativeness against this plunder and anti-people measures!

Let the neighborhoods, students, and workers take to the streets, because only direct action can stop this criminal policy!

Today, the duty of the people is to transform indignation into organization, and organization into struggle. Every price increase, every decree of hunger, must meet with resistance from the masses. Noboa and the IMF have drawn the line: on one side, the working people, exploited and oppressed; on the other, the big bourgeoisie and big landlords who sell out their country to their imperialist masters.

DOWN WITH THE FASCIST AND STARVATION-INDUCING GOVERNMENT OF NOBOA!

OUT WITH THE IMF AND ITS CRIMINAL POLICIES FROM ECUADOR!

THE PEOPLE WILL NOT PAY FOR THE CRISIS: LET THE BANKERS, LANDLORDS, AND THE CORRUPT PAY FOR IT!

ORGANIZE, FIGHT AND RESIST!
