FDLP-EC: TO THE ECUADORIAN PEOPLE

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement by the Defense Front of the Peoples’ Struggles in Ecuador (FDLP-EC) on the recent protests and struggles in the country. We reported yesterday on these events:

ORGANIZE AND DEVELOP THE NATIONAL, IMMEDIATE AND INDEFINITE STRIKE TO THE END!

The Defense Front of the Peoples’ Struggles in Ecuador takes position in response to the outcry of the broad masses of exploited and oppressed people in the country, and joins the call for an Immediate and Indefinite National Strike against the comprador-big landlord regime of Daniel Noboa and his measures which bring hunger to the people.

We join this great movement of struggle for land, water, rights of the people and national sovereignty, against a regime which has clearly showed its country-selling, fascist and pro-imperialist character.

We consider key the mobilization of students and other conscious collectives; however, it is fundamental to be aware of the task of encircling the cities from the countryside a part of the general strategy to break the will and logistical capacities of the regime.

The determined struggle of the masses does not necessarily bear the imprint of an organization or collective that seeks to appropriate, from the outset, the mobilization and combat capabilities of the people. This call and the days of popular struggle respond to the clamorous decision of the masses to articulate all organizational efforts with clear objectives: to combat Noboa’s comprador regime.

It is worth noting that the Ecuadorian people will not tolerate this vital effort being negotiated at the table with our executioners. The struggle will be “to the end”. That is, until achieving:

The repeal of Decree 126, which eliminates the diesel subsidy, the immediate withdrawal of mining exploitation plans in Quimsacocha (Loma Larga), Palo Quemado, Las Naves, and others.

The rejection of the popular consultation for a new Constituent Assembly.

The immediate reduction of VAT from 15% to 12%, as well as demanding that the lands granted to large mining companies be redistributed among poor peasants.

Breaking ties with the International Monetary Fund.

The prohibition of foreign military bases.

FOR THE LAND, SOVEREIGNTY AND PEOPLE’S DIGNITY!

LONG LIVE THE NATIONAL STRIKE, IMMEDIATE AND INDEFINITE!

ORGANIZE, COMBAT AND RESIST!

IT IS RIGHT TO REBEL!
