On September 16, the Israeli Army announced the launch of a major ground operation to occupy Gaza City, deploying two divisions and preparing a third to join shortly. The Israeli army declared that its offensive in Gaza City is part of “Operation Gideon’s Chariots 2,”. Since October 7, 2023, Israel has murdered 65,174 and injured 166,071 others, the majority of whom are women and children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
Not even the Israeli high rank officials can deny the genocidal policies committed by the State of Israel. The former Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi has acknowledged that more than 200,000 Palestinians have been murdered or wounded since the start of the genocidal war in Gaza, becoming the first senior Israeli figure to publicly cite a figure close to the figures released by the Gaza Health Ministry.
Before the ground invasion itself, the State of Israel launched a series of airstrikes and bombardments (around 109 according to some sources) carrying out several massacres of civilians, murdering more than 2,000 people in few days and forcing the displacement of thousands of Palestinians and making the health services of Gaza City collapse.
According to the Gaza government media office, Israeli forces have completely or severely destroyed more than 3,600 buildings and high-rises in Gaza City in recent weeks, and demolished about 13,000 tents housing displaced people, The Palestine Chronicle reported. Despite this destruction, approximately one million Palestinians remain in Gaza City and the north, refusing forced displacement.
