
Brazil: Event Commemorates the 30th Anniversary of the Peasant Battle of Santa Elina
An event for the Peasant Struggle of Santa Elina will be held on September 27 in Piracicaba, São Paulo.
The event aims to promote the debate on the struggle for land in Brazil, highlighting the resistance that took place in the Battle of Santa Elina and how, from the spilled blood of the peasants, the rupture with the old type of peasant struggle culminated and the League of the Poor Peasants (LCP) was born.
The event is organized by the newspaper A Nova Democracia (AND) and will have the participation of ABRAPO, the LCP, the Committee of Victims of Santa Elina (Codevisa), People’s Organization (OPA), the Brazilian Communist Party of Piracicaba, the Piracicaba Committee of Solidarity with Palestine and the Housing Struggle of São Paulo (LPM).
