Actions Carried out by Maoists in India
There have been several actions carried out by Maoists in India over the last week, in areas declared by the old State and the bourgeois media as “Maoist-free zones”.
Maoist leaflets have been seen in the outskirts of Patrapuram village in Mulugu district, in an area the State has declared as a Maoist-free zone.

There have also been reports of Maoist activity in the Kandhamal jungle belts. Bourgeois media reports that 8 of the 12 subdivisions in the Kandhamal district have active Maoist activity, including Phiringia, Khajuripada, Chakapada, Raikia, Baliguda, Tumudibandh, Kotagarh, and Daringbadi.
Maoist sabotage actions have stalled or delayed several old State initiatives in Kandhamal. The State Police and security forces increased surveillance in the area have been unsuccessful in hindering the long-established Maoist activity in the region.
A commandant rank officer of Odisha’s elite Special Operation Group (SOG) was shot and injured by Maoists in a forest in Kandhamal district on Thursday. The battle took place at Indragarh jungle, in the Raikia area, bordering Ganjam district. The fire-fight took place as police were surveilling the area searching for Maoists.
