Mexico: Weekly Newsletter
We hereby share an unofficial translation of the part on Mexico of the latest Weekly Newsletter published by Sol Rojo.
On September 19, a major demonstration was held in Mexico City in support of the Palestinian people, which started at the Fuente de Petróleos and ended at the Israeli embassy. The central demand has been the severing of Mexico’s relations with the Zionist entity, which today is the focus of all protests in the country in response to the inaction of the old Mexican State (lackey of Yankee imperialism). This same demonstration also went to the US embassy and then to the Senate of the Republic, where a document was delivered demanding condemnation of the genocide and support for the Global
Sumud Flotilla, where a delegation of Mexican activists is traveling.
In Oaxaca, on September 20 and 21, the “Tequio for the Defense of the Territory” was held in Playa Salchi, Pochutla, where comrades from the Committee for the Defense of Indigenous Rights
(CODEDI) continue to defend the beaches against the actions of the dispossession cartel, which, in collusion with local and State authorities, as well as Yankees and Canadians, is attempting to privatize communal lands. The activity brought together representatives from more than 10 democratic organizations and included theater, music, poetry, and collective work. However, the comrades of Tequio have reported an attack when an armed group led by the local boss “Chucho Reyes”
arrived at the camp to try to intimidate the activists, who repelled the attack.
In Guerrero, comrades from the Federation of Socialist Peasant Students of Mexico (FECSM), together with the Committee of Parents of the 43, held an important and combative mobilization on September 22, days before the 11th anniversary of the forced disappearance of the 43 students from Ayotzinapa, which will be commemorated on September 26. Yesterday’s protests were combative, particularly at the facilities of the 35th Military Zone in Chilpancingo, where young people painted graffiti and threw firecrackers and petrol bombs at the facilities, denouncing that the Mexican army, protected by the presidency of the republic, refuses to hand over 800 pages of the investigation that would allow them to find those responsible for the disappearance and whereabouts of their missing comrades.
In other news, this September 23 marks the 60th anniversary of the assault on the Madera Barracks in 1965, an act led by the Popular Guerrilla Group with Professor Arturo Gámiz and Dr. Pablo Gómez at the helm, which marked the beginning of the armed struggle for socialism in Mexico and the emergence of the contemporary guerrilla struggle.
From Mexico to Palestine, the struggle continues!
Long live the peoples of Anáhuac in resistance!
Ayotzi lives, the struggle continues!
September 23 is not forgotten, it is a day of combative struggle!
