FDLP-Ecuador: IT IS RIGHT TO REBEL!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of the statement and report on the protests and struggles in Ecuador from the Defense Front of the Peoples’ Struggles in Ecuador (FDLP-EC).

THE PEOPLE’S UPRISING AGAINST THE FASCIST REGIME OF NOBOA IS GAINING MOMENTUM

Firmly and unyieldingly, peasants, workers, students, indigenous people, and the people in general are sustaining the days of struggle against Noboa’s puppet government.

Several communities, organizations, and political movements are joining this great combative movement in defense of the interests of the majority.

Faced with the combative fervor of the masses in Cotacachi, Ibarra, Ilumán, Otavalo, and La Esperanza, the enemy of the people, the Armed Forces and the National Police, have mobilized thousands of troops, armored vehicles, and helicopters to attempt the impossible: to break the indomitable will of a people determined to put a stop to the pretensions of a government subservient to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), imperialism, the big bourgeoisie, and the big landlords.

In a circus act, Noboa, faithful to his demagogic and populist politics, challenged the people of Otavalo and traveled there to define strategies that, delusionally, would allow him to mitigate or neutralize the people’s uprising.

Foolish, imbecilic, like all jaded rich people; like all arrogant bourgeois, he completely militarized the city in a clear declaration of war against the people. What had to happen happened: faced with the combative rejection of the masses, he had to leave cowardly, with his “tail between his legs.”

Repression is increasing: hundreds of people’s fighters have been illegally detained. The aggression against the people is increasing to critical levels. We are not intimidated or cowed: we must establish a strategy proportional to the violence of the enemy of the people. It is not right that the masses should be the only ones who are wounded, beaten, and even disappeared; they, the enemies of the people, must also pay their dues.

The fool from Carondelet, Noboa, has threatened to charge those detained with terrorism. We could not and should not expect anything less. However, nothing will stop the people’s upheaval, which is ready to struggle until Noboa’s dictatorial pretensions and economic measures are curbed.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister John Reimberg, displaying unique arrogance, is striving to delegitimize the people’s uprising by pointing out that these are “isolated” actions led by the followers of the former president, Correa, by the “Aragua train,” gang and “terrorists” infiltrating the demonstrations. This disgusting pig believes that by stigmatizing the masses as “criminals,” “wage earners,” and “terrorists,” he can delegitimize the just people’s rebellion. Fat chance! We know that the more they attack us, the more they persecute us, the more we know we are on the right path.

People of Ecuador, there is no room here for conciliation or dialogue. There is no turning back: the uprising must be sustained to the end, until the objectives set are conquered.

The government and the armed forces/national police have declared war on us. That’s fine: it’s what you would expect in a class society and in institutions that serve the interests not only of the government, but also of the old bureaucratic-big landlord State. It’s not as if the members of the armed forces and the police are “sons of the people” and we are calling on them to reflect. They are children of the institutions they represent and defend; they see us and fight us as what we truly are: their enemies. Class hatred is mutual!

We will strengthen the people’s uprising. What happened in Imbabura cries out to be replicated in all the provinces of the country.

LONG LIVE THE PEOPLE’S UPRISING!

NO TO DIALOGUE AND CONCILIATION!

DEEPEN AND RADICALIZE THE PEOPLE’S UPRISING!

ORGANIZE, COMBAT, AND RESIST!

IT IS RIGHT TO REBEL!
