Turkey: Partizan Calls for Organizing Against the Theft of People’s Land in Samandağ

We hereby share an unofficial translation of the call from Partizan, published by Yeni Demokrasi, concerning the theft of people’s land in Samandağ.

Partizan continues its work against the state-sponsored destruction of nature and attacks on people’s land in Samandağ.

Partizan readers, who drew attention to the attacks through sticker campaigns and conversations with the inhabitants of the Kurtderesi neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods, call on the people to organize and the call to support actions and resistance against State oppression was reiterated.

The demands of the residents of the Kurtderesi neighborhood can be summarized as follows:

  • No land with title deeds should be seized by force for any reason.
  • No plan should be implemented without the approval and participation of the neighborhood residents.
  • Agricultural lands, olive groves, water resources, and the ecosystem should not be destroyed for the sake of capital.
  • The public should be provided with clear and understandable information about the purpose, scope, and consequences of projects in the region.
  • The economic, social, and cultural rights of the people should not be violated; their production and living spaces should be protected.
