Ecuador: Eternal Honor and Glory to the Combatants of the Shining Trenches of Combat!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement by the Defense Front of the People’s Struggles of Ecuador (FDLP-EC).

From the depths of the people’s indigenous uprising against the economical measures and the fascist government of Daniel Noboa, the Defense Front of the People’s Struggles of Ecuador commemorates another anniversary of the most heroic and firm resistance of the comrades of the Communist Party of Peru (PCP) in the Shining Trenches of Combat.

40 years ago, under the bureaucratic government of Alan García, reactionary forces attacked the Lurigancho prison, resulting in a massacre of war prisoners. “On October 4, 1985, in the capital city of the Republic itself, 30 war prisoners were murdered and 34 seriously injured. The anti-subversive unit of the Republican Guard, Llapan Atiq, attacked the British pavilion breaching it with dynamite, followed by more dynamite, tear gas, and incendiary bombs, subsequently assaulting the prison. Some prisoners were shot, others burned alive, and wounded prisoners were finished off, they burnt the dead bodies with white phosphorus to hide that they were shot; they brutally beat the survivors and afterwards burnt the pavilion in order to hide their monstrous murders. The bodies were not returned to their families; 28 nameless graves in the Presbítero Maestro cemetery remain as a testament to García Pérez’s genocidal hatred towards war prisoners.

Although it was a massacre, there was also combat and resistance from the comrades, who wrote – with their red and forever living blood – another page of bravery, sacrifice, and honor for the proletariat and the people of Peru in the history of their service in the World Proletarian Revolution.

All those comrades who fell in the uneven combat live on in the struggles of the class and oppressed peoples of the world.

ETERNAL HONOR AND GLORY TO THE HEROES OF THE CLASS AND THE PEOPLE!

LONG LIVE THE PCP AND THE PEOPLE’S WAR IN PERU!
