FDLP-Ecuador: AGAINST THE TRIALS OF PEOPLE’S FIGHTERS

We share an unofficial translation of a statement by the Defense Front of People’s Struggles of Ecuador.

Despite the regime’s offensive, with troops, police, and weapons deployed to try and neutralize the people’s uprising, the ambiguity on the part of indigenous leadership, and the open betrayal by some among them, the uprising remains strong and combative at its grassroots.

The determined incorporation of the workers and peasant movement into the people’s indigenous uprising has strengthened blockades and marches, but above all, it has become the key to prevent further betrayals (like those that occurred during the uprisings in 2019 and 2022) from happening.

The day of struggle in Cañar, led by peasants, was powerful. It confronted a presidential tour that boldly interrupted the uprising. As expected, the fascist ended up fleeing. His escort and bluster were of little use.

In Imbabura, the participation of the Kichwa and Karanki people has been crucial. Together with workers, informal workers, and other class-conscious sectors, it became clear that only the alliance of committed classes, guided by a clear political orientation, supports and drives the struggle despite opportunists.

The puppet government of the IMF imperialism, authoritarian and corporate, has unleashed massive persecution against the leaders of the uprising. Imbabura has seen blood and pain: one murdered, and the many injured, tortured, disappeared, imprisoned, and criminalized. Several people’s figures have already been summoned by the Prosecutor’s Office on charges of disrupting public services.

The Imbabura Defense Front for Workers’ Rights expresses its solidarity with all victims and those currently being persecuted, particularly with comrade Patricia Amaya, a union leader from Ibarra and part of the FDDT-I, who is under surveillance, harassment, and criminal proceedings by the repressive apparatus of the old State.

None of this will break our people’s determination to fight, increasingly embraced by correct ideological guidance.

The puppet government must understand this: The people’s indigenous uprising will remain firm and will radicalize further until the objectives are achieved.

NO TO THE PERSECUTION OF THE PEOPLE’S FIGHTERS!

FUEL AND DEVELOP THE UPRISING UNTIL VICTORY!

NO TO DIALOGUE, NO TO BETRAYAL!

RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS ARE WON THROUGH STRUGGLE!

ORGANIZE, COMBAT, RESIST!
