On October 7, Anti-Imperialist Action organized a powerful demonstration in the working-class neighborhood of Tingbjerg, together with Aktiv for Palæstina Brønshøj/Husum/Tingbjerg, to commemorate the second anniversary of the “heroic Palestinian counter-offensive and the intensification of Israel’s brutal genocide”. They faced defamation by BT, newspaper of national repercussion, due to the defense of the people of Palestine. They also faced sabotage by Trotskyists and Zionists, but despite everything, they received the support from the masses of the popular neighborhoods of Copenhagen.

The successful mobilization not only attracted a large number of masses from Copenhagen but also featured the participation of public figures, such as the singer Isam B, ADUMA, and journalist Sara Bovín.

Attacks from the Right and “Left”

Despite sabotage by opportunist Trotskyists and Zionists within the Palestinian movement in Denmark, and an extensive smear campaign against Anti-Imperialist Action and the demonstration, there was a solid turnout of people from the neighborhood and other parts of Copenhagen and the rest of the country, under torrential rain.

Anti-Imperialist Action reported that it was confronted by the imperialist press monopoly BT, a widely read national newspaper in Denmark, which wrote an article in which both former MP Joachim B. Olsen and the president of the “Danish-Palestinian Friendship Association” criticized the organizers for having organized a demonstration precisely on October 7.

The imperialist newspaper BT reported that “For them to be there on October 7 – on the second anniversary of the largest mass murder of Jews since World War II – and hold a sympathy demonstration for those behind the massacre, is abhorrent. They are obviously Hamas sympathizers, and I think they are the scum of humanity,” adding “I have the greatest sympathy for all civilian victims in Gaza. But Hamas has 100 percent responsibility for their suffering.”

The attack from the “left” by the president of the Danish-Palestinian Friendship Association is “to be expected,” as reported by Roede Fane. This association condemned the Al-Aqsa Flood and supports the collaborator so-called Palestinian Authority.

But the people, ultimately, must distinguish between who is on their side and who is only full of words. Despite all the attacks, several hundred people attended the demonstration on October 7. [Sounds like it is our words]

The masses of Tingbjerg mobilize despite bad weather

The demonstration began with a welcome speech by an activist from Anti-imperialist Action, emphasizing that October 7 was a just attack of resistance and that the people of Palestine have the right to resist against the Zionist occupying power, just like the Jews had the right to resist with arms during the Second World War.

It was explained that the day is also especially important because the Zionists, and Danish imperialism want to justify continuing the genocide against the Palestinians and approving anti-popular laws in the world.

Several activists and artists recited poems and held speeches. The singer and firm supporter of the Palestinian resistance struggle, Isam B., made a powerful speech before the demonstration, which was met with a great applause.

The police tried to make them march on the sidewalk instead of blocking traffic to lower the morale of the masses. However, after condemning this maneuver, the demonstrators were allowed to continue as planned.

During the demonstration, demonstrators chanted slogans, such as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!”, “Death, death to the IDF!”, and “There is only one solution, Intifada, Revolution!” or “Palestine has been occupied since 1948! It didn’t start on October 7!”.

People shouted their support from their windows and many passersby also expressed their support for the popular and combative demonstration.

More Personalities Show Their Support For The March

When the march came to an end, more speeches were given by local activists. Also, by journalist Sara Bovín, a firm supporter of Palestine and object of a smear campaign in the media for pointing out that most journalists from the main media outlets in Denmark have received paid trips to Israel during their careers. Her speech was powerful and exposed the total corruption in the Danish imperialist press monopoly.

The demonstration concluded with the singer ADUMA, who sang three lyrically and politically precise songs about Palestine. They were met with a great applause from the demonstrators.

Roede Fane concludes “The demonstration was an anti-imperialist victory and a blow against the Zionist and imperialist propaganda about the day in question. The day also struck an important blow against opportunism and revisionism.”
