Ecuador – Comrade Rafael Chaluisa Present in the Struggle of the Class and the People!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of an article by the Defense Front of the People’s Struggles in Ecuador (FDLP-EC).

The Defense Front of the People’s Struggles in Ecuador expresses its deepest class solidarity to the relatives and comrades of the late Rafael Chaluisa S.

Comrade Rafael Chaluisa was the founder of Health Workers Federation of Ecuador (FETSAE), Health Workers Federation of Pichincha (FETSAPI) and Sole Union Organization of Public Workers of the Ministry of Healthcare (OSUNTRAMSA); a tireless organizer and combatant of the working class. He led the struggle for the first collective agreement for the health workers, he organized training schools for the trade union and constantly struggled against the opportunist currents which diverted the historic organizations of the unionized workers in the public health sector.

The life of comrade Rafael Chaluisa commits the conscious elements of the class to continue, to persist in the unstoppable, tough and unyielding struggle to reconstitute the union movement in Ecuador, today in the hands of the most putrid agents, opportunists and traitors of the working class.

We particularly express our solidarity to comrade Joaquín Chaluisa, leader of FDLP-EC and his sister, Jane Chaluisa, president of FETSAPI, who are undoubtedly following in their fathers footsteps in the union’s struggle, and who today occupy a worthy and well deserved place among those men and women who are consequent in the class struggle and has firmly contributed to the revolutionary transformation of the country.
