According to the newspaper A Nova Democracia, on November 26 there was an attack on the Tiago Campin dos Santos camp by a relative of the big landlord known as “Galo Velho”, the biggest land grabber of Rondônia. João Martins and goons tried to set the house of one of the peasants on fire. After being repelled by the peasants, they started shooting the families, including the children. In response, the peasants defended themselves and Martins received a shot in his foot.

The peasants, organized in the League of the Poor Peasants (LCP) described the self defense as “victorious”, after repelling the attack without suffering injures. On the other hand, João Martins claims in social media that he was “assaulted” and that his truck suffered 200 rifle shots, threatening his life.
