Chile: Residents Fighting Against Construction Company and Event on the Santa María de Iquique Massacre
Residents from the Comité Vivienda Digna (Decent Housing Committee) of the Popular Front of Maipú entered in the headquarters of Sacyr, a construction company, denouncing that the company wants to expropriate a part of the housing project they have been fighting for years. This led to company representatives having to come down to try to provide explanations.
The newspaper El Pueblo and the group La Ventolera will present the play “Hijas del Pueblo” (Daughters of the People), a live music, dance, and theater performance the stories of combative women who, along with a tribute to Teresa Flores and a commemoration of the 1907 massacre at the Santa María de Iquique school.
