Mexico: Weekly Newsletter
We hereby share an unofficial translation of the part on Mexico of the weekly newsletter published by Sol Rojo.
Following the Yankee-imperialist military aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores, the popular movement in our country has responded in an exemplary manner, acting immediately and placing class solidarity and proletarian internationalism at the forefront. In various cities across the country, demonstrations were held condemning the aggression and demanding that the Mexican State take a firmer and clearer stance against Yankee imperialism, which also keeps our country subjugated.
In Mexico City , activists from various organizations such as the Mexican Coordination of Solidarity with Venezuela, the Antifascist International, and the National Coordination of Education Workers (CNTE) demonstrated in front of the US embassy for more than two hours with slogans and banners.
In Guerrero, activists from the Popular Socialist Political Organization, the National Workers’ Alliance, the José Martí Collective, the House of Friendship with Cuba, CETEG Retirees and Pensioners, and the Broad Front of Colonies and Communities held a rally in the state capital carrying placards.
In Chiapas, there was also a demonstration in San Cristóbal de las Casas, while the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) issued a brief statement in solidarity with the Venezuelan people.
In Oaxaca, the National Coordination of Education Workers (CNTE) and various social organizations marched from the Fountain of the Eight Regions to the palace of ignominy (government palace); A rally was held in the city’s main square, while posters, banners, and graffiti were placed on the walls of the building. The Alliance of Organizations and Peoples in Resistance (AOPR) also issued a statement denouncing the attack.
The general crisis of imperialism and military aggression against peoples is the order of the day; it is necessary for progressive, revolutionary, anti-fascist, and anti-imperialist forces to close ranks in the construction of the national and international Anti-imperialist Front. Current of the People – Red Sun reaffirms its call for the construction of the Mexican chapter of the Anti-Imperialist League as a platform for revolutionary and internationalist struggle.
No to the military intervention of Yankee imperialism in Venezuela!
