Philippines: Revolutionary Tributes to Central Committee Member Comrade Amek
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) has issued a statement honoring Comrade Amek who was martyred by the reactionary forces of the old State in an encounter in Sitio Apitong, Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental on January 30th.
The encounter followed a previous encounter that same morning, where comrade Joem, medical officer of the Apolin Regional Command-New People’s Army (RNC-NPA), was murdered in an encounter. At 16:00 military troops located Comrade Amek’s maneuver not far from the scene, managed to capture him, and executed him.
CPP Central Committee writes in its statement: “Comrade Amek played a major role in the formation and strengthening of the NPA in Bohol and Negros. Comrade Amek was part of the NPA forces that launched tactical offensives in Bohol, including the raid on Batuan town that seized more than 80 weapons. In 2013, he became a platoon leader in the established regional center of gravity under the Regional Committee in Negros, and three years later, he was appointed its company commander. In 2019, Comrade Amek was appointed the regional commander of the NPA in Negros”
“As a member and leader of the Party, Comrade Amek studied Marxism-Leninism-Maoism thoroughly. He made sure to devote time to reading the classic writings of great communist scholars, and studying philosophy, theory of People’s War and so on. In 2023, Comrade Amek took over as secretary of the Party’s Negros Regional Committee. Ka Amek played a major role in applying the lessons of the rectification movement in Negros. By leading the leading cadres in Negros in self-criticism, Comrade Amek was able to firmly consolidate the Regional Committee and lead it in continuously revitalizing the revolutionary movement on the island. In 2025, he was elected a member of the Party’s Central Committee.”
They conclude: “Let us forever remember the name and contributions of Comrade Amek to the Philippine revolution. Let us draw inspiration from his life of selfless service to the oppressed and exploited masses, and in advancing the people’s democratic revolution to achieve the people’s aspirations for national liberation and a socialist future.”
The Romeo Nanta Command-New People’s Army (RNC-NPA), have also issued a statement in tribute of Comrade Amek, writing: “[RNC-NPA] awards the highest revolutionary honors to Reynalde “Comrade Amek” Erecre, leading military cadre and Party secretary in the Negros region, and “Comrade Joem” Golez, a medical staff of the Apolin Regional Command-New People’s Army (RNC-NPA).”
