Five soldiers of the 11th Infantry Battalion (IB) were eliminated in Negros Oriental by the New People’s Army (NPA) on February 15, Philippine Revolution Web Central (PRWC) reports. The old State’s soldiers attacked an NPA unit which was conducting an investigation into the problems of the people in the Barangay Santo Niño, Tanjay City. The Red combatants thwarted the attack by counter-offensives and seized the initiative in the battle. In addition to the five eliminated soldiers, several more were injured.
On February 11th a unit of the Leonardo Panaligan Commando-New People’s Army (LPC-NPA)
executed an AFP intelligence officer. The agent was involved in the murder of a peasant leader and he was a former member of the paramilitary unit of CAFGU (Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit). He was also involved in beating and intimidating civilians, getting drunk and abusing them to the point where he would fire weapons causing panic among the residents.
On February 17th the Romeo Nanta Command-NPA of South Central Negros eliminated an intel asset of the 94th IB. The enemy served for a long time as an intel asset, founded an intel network for the old State in the area and tried to bribe the people to get information. The red combatants of the NPA tried to speak with him and convince him to stop his activities, which he did for some years, but in the end he resumed his counterrevolutionary work.
