Norway: Palestine Demonstrators Face Disproportionate Fines

Tjen Folket Media (TFM) reports that in the aftermath of the demonstrations against the international football match between Norway and Israel where thousands of demonstrators participated, individual fines of up to 28 000 NOK (~2800 EUR) have been issued, with the total amount landing at 360 000 NOK (~36 000 EUR).

TFM writes that even according to the police themselves, this amounts to “the biggest individual fines that have been given for one single action in connection to a Palestine demonstration”. TFM concludes that: “The fines they have now imposed are part of a very clear trend whereby imperialist states are aggressively stepping up their persecution and repression specifically targeting anti-imperialist political activism and activism in solidarity with democratic and national liberation movements around the world.”
