France – LCDP: On February 28, We Pay Tribute to the Heroes of the Proletariat.
We hereby share an unofficial translation of an excerpt from a report published by La Cause du Peuple on February 28th.
On Saturday, February 28, many of us gathered at Père Lachaise Cemetery to pay tribute to the heroes of the French proletariat. Revived in 2012 by La Cause du Peuple on the 40th anniversary of the death of our comrade Pierre Overney, Pierrot, the ceremony originally brought together a dozen people the first time.

54 years after the death of our comrade, 250 people took part in the celebration in the cemetery paths, pausing at the grave of Colonel Fabien, near the Wall of the Federates. The appeal, signed by revolutionary youth organizations (LJR/JR), the Student Union Federation (FSE), the Marxist-Leninist Proletarian Union (UPML-ICOR), Partizan, and the Organizing Committee of the Anti-Imperialist League (France), had a strong response this year. We then went to the tomb of Pierre Overney, where speeches of tribute were read.
The songs of the revolutionary proletariat set the tone for the commemoration, including “Les nouveaux Partisans” (The New Partisans), which we enjoy singing every year with its original performer, Dominique Grange, a former activist with the Gauche Prolétarienne (Proletarian Left) and comrade of Pierrot.
