Julius Kamau, Collins Otieno and Mulinge Mutet, militants of the Communist Party Marxist of Kenya (CPM-Kenya), were arrested at Jogoo house, a government office in Nairobi, on Thursday. They were arrested and taken to the Central Police Station where they were held for hours, instead of being brought to court.
The CPM-Kenya announced that they were arrested while presenting a petition against extra judicial killings and condemned the use of goons in political rallies. The Party condemned the “continued targeting of communism”.
Soon after their arrest, a call for solidarity was issued.
On Thursday the three militants were acquitted after the charges against them were dismissed, as the charge sheet used against them was defective.
The CPM-Kenya has been already targeted by the State, as its general secretary, Booger Ngesa Omole was kidnapped and tortured for days, as we reported.
