Greece: Joint statement by Organizations and Collectives on the anti-war demonstration on Thursday 12/3

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement shared by the Communist Party of Greece (Marxist-Leninist) [KKE (m-l)].

Our people, like all the peoples of the region, are anxiously following all the latest war developments. With the intervention and bombing of Iran by the US imperialists, but also by the murderous State of Israel, with the ongoing genocide in Palestine and the attacks on Lebanon, the clouds of war are increasingly thickening, both in our region and more generally.

At the same time – no matter how much the rulers in the country try to reverse reality – the dangerous involvement of our country is a fact – both with the concession of the American-NATO military bases and the transformation of our country into a base, and with the dispatch of frigates and F-16s to Cyprus. Moreover, the provocative statements of government officials about its alliances and that it “has found itself on the right side of history”, expressing the entire bourgeois political system, are characteristic. At the same time, they demand the subordination of the people to the plans of the rulers, invoking the so-called “national unity”.

Similarly, the European imperialists (EU and Britain), who are sending warships to the Eastern Mediterranean, also claiming their own role in the war involvement. And at the same time, the establishment of the war economy and the re-armament in all the countries of Europe is already progressing.

All this is taking place against the backdrop of the generalization of war. With the active front in Ukraine, with interventions in Latin America, threats in Greenland and while the people of Cuba are being tested by the American blockade. The peoples are facing the dangers of general conflagration and war massacres for imperialist interests. At the same time, they are preparing us to pay the economic “price” of war preparations.

In the face of the system’s organized propaganda about who “defends peace and freedom” and who the real terrorists are, let us respond with initiatives of mobilizations, popular interventions, and events.

The peoples – and our people – have the power! They can and must resist these dangerous developments. By developing a mass anti-imperialist and anti-war movement. By expressing the solidarity and friendship of the peoples! Our legacy is the massive and persistent demonstrations and actions of solidarity with the heroic Palestinian people, it is the magnificent mobilizations against the murderous policy that caused the crime in Tempe.

We call on all the people, the youth, the unions, the associations, the collectives and organizations, all the fighters to broaden coordination and mobilizations!
