Colombia: The First National Meeting Against Yankee Aggression in Latin America was successfully held
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report published by Nueva Democracia on an important meeting that took place in Medellin.
On February 28 and March 1, the Coordinadora de Luchas Populares (CLP) convened and promoted the First National Meeting Against Yankee Aggression in Latin America in Medellín, bringing together delegations from more than ten departments of the country, as well as representatives from sister countries such as Chile and Venezuela, and from the working and revolutionary people of the United States. The meeting brought together more than 35 popular, democratic, and revolutionary organizations from Colombia, as well as several activists and popular fighters who participated in a personal capacity.

The event was notable for the broad participation of delegations from the Colombian Caribbean, one of the epicenters of imperialist aggression in the last year. Student, peasant, and community organizations from La Guajira, Sucre, Cesar, Magdalena, Córdoba, and Santander were present. During the meeting, there was a strong outcry denouncing and rejecting the United States’ aggression against the Venezuelan people on January 3, as well as the US military presence in the Colombian Caribbean, and the bombings and counterinsurgency actions carried out in the Caribbean, Catatumbo, and other parts of the national territory under the dictates of Yankee imperialism.

Historical struggles against multinational mining companies were discussed, such as the long struggle of victims and displaced persons of the multinational Glencore, and movements fighting for land against landowners and large estate owners who support the structures of imperialist domination. In addition, numerous organizations defending the rights of the people emphasized that the only path to national liberation comes from resistance and popular organization. The direct relationship between imperialism and landowners was highlighted, and it was emphasized that the defense of territory and the conquest of land are fundamental bases of the anti-imperialist struggle.

Organizations that have supported the Palestinian national resistance and denounced Zionist genocide also participated, highlighting the importance of the anti-imperialist struggle being international, uniting the peoples of the world against a common enemy.

The meeting also addressed issues such as racism and oppression of women, emphasizing their relationship with imperialist oppression and the need to incorporate them into the popular and anti-imperialist struggle to strengthen the unity of the people.
The meeting was characterized by a great spirit of unity, seeking to combat both sectarianism among organizations and conciliation with imperialism and its different forms of aggression—cultural, political, economic, and military—in order to consolidate points of unity and a common agenda of actions that strengthen a consistent anti-imperialist movement.
During the meeting, there were various cultural performances of poetry and music of different genres, which raised the morale of those in attendance to the highest level and gave the space a great popular character.

The event raised the urgent task of organizing a powerful anti-imperialist movement in Colombia, Latin America, and around the world. The resolutions of the meeting can be found below.
At the end of the meeting, two videos were made with statements regarding the US-Israel aggression against Iran and in support of the just struggle of Argentine workers.
