As the Yankee imperialist war of aggression on Iran moves into its third week, the US and Israel have started a new offensive on military installations of the island of Kharg, the principal oil refinery of Iran. The defensive retaliation “Operation True Promise 4” moves into its 49th wave, targeting US and Israeli positions in the region.

The US has struck military facilities on Kharg Island, one of the key locations of Iran’s oil refinement, where around 90% of all Iranian oil exports flow through. The US is also threatening to target the energy infrastructure on the island next, despite warnings from Iran that they will retaliate against energy infrastructure throughout the region in the case this is carried out.

A request from US Central Command (Centcom), the Pentagon’s Middle East hub, has been approved, setting up for an amphibious ready group and an attached Marine expeditionary unit, which includes three warships and around 5,000 US Marines, to be detached to the Middle East.

Analysts are suggesting that the Marine Expeditionary Unit may not just be the first use of ground troops in the Yankee imperialist war of aggression on Iran, but also that these troops could be used to take over control of the oil refinery part of Kharg Island, in an attempt to strike at the economic and energy capabilities of Iran.

Recently, a former high-ranking US official from the Obama administration suggested that there’s increasing consideration of sending ground troops not only onto islands, with the Abu Musa island looking like a likely next target, but potentially also into the Ahvaz region in southwestern Iran, where the majority of Iranian oil and gas is extracted.

The price of oil is currently floating at around the 100 USD per barrel mark, with a slight increase to ~104 USD since yesterday.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have launched their 48th and 49th wave of the “Operation True Promise 4”, and according to one statement they issued, the fresh waves of retaliatory strikes targeted locations in northern Israel, including Galilee and Haifa, the occupied Golan Heights as well as US military bases in the region.

The 49th wave targeted Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates —allegedly hitting Patriot radar systems, a control tower, and air defense depots— as well as Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, where early-warning radar systems, aircraft hangars, and operational platforms were allegedly damaged, while another attack struck the Al-Adiri helicopter base in Kuwait, described as “a site used to store equipment and assemble military personnel.”

The US embassy in Baghdad have been struck by a missile, destroying the building’s helipad.

The Iranian Armed Forces claims that the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln have been “rendered operationally inactive” and that it “has been effectively repelled and forced to escape”.

The port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been struck by a drone attack. Fujairah is the outlet for about 1 million barrels per day of the UAE’s crude oil — which is equal to about 1% of world demand. This comes as a response to attacks on Iran’s Kharg Island.

An Ansar Allah Political Bureau representative have told Al Mayadeen that “Yemen has taken the decision to support Iran.” and that it is “only a matter of time” until they will involve themselves.

Since the start of the Yankee imperialist war of aggression on Iran a wave of displacement has unfolded across the region. UN Refugee Agency claims that up to 3.2 million people in Iran have been temporarily displaced. In Lebanon, authorities said more than 822,000 people have registered on the government’s online displacement platform.

The Public Ministry of Health in Lebanon said in an update on Friday that 773 people so far have been murdered in the Israeli aggression on the country. Today, 12 medical staff was murdered in an Israeli airstrike on a health care center, once more constituting blatant war crimes committed by the genocidal State of Israel, which is threatening to further target “medical facilities and ambulances”, claiming Hezbollah is making “extensive military use of ambulances”, mirroring similar statements and “justifications” used in the heinous bombardment of Gaza.

Hezbollah announced several defensive operations against Israel, targeting settlements, occupation soldiers, and key military assets. On Friday, March 13, the Resistance carried out a total of 27 operations against Israel, with an additional two announced today.

Hezbollah combatants targeted the settlement of Metulla with a rocket salvo, in line with the warning issued by Hezbollah to several settlements in northern Israel. Resistance combatants struck Ein Zeitim Base north of Safed with a rocket salvo, and combatants also engaged an Israeli armored vehicle at the Khiam detention center with a guided missile, reportedly achieving a direct hit.

On the 12th of March in the cities of Heraklion, Chania, Xanthi and Patra in Greece, anti-war rallies were carried out denouncing the Yankee imperialist war of aggression on Iran, after a call and statement from several organizations which we previously reported. The Communist Party of Greece (Marxist-Leninist) [KKE (m-l)] participated in all the demonstrations, carried their own banners and “distributed leaflets and with its slogans demonstrated the need to strengthen the people’s struggle against imperialism in the war and our country’s involvement in it through the NATO bases that exist in Crete and in other areas of Greece”.
