FBI Opens its First Office in Ecuador

On March 11, 2026, the United States Embassy held the signing of an agreement which allows the opening of the first office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Ecuador, in the capital, Quito. The event was attended by the Vice-President of Ecuador, María José Pinto, and the Minister of Interior, John Reimberg, and US Embassy’s and FBI’s officials.

Bourgeois press stresses that the FBI has already participated in investigations carried out in the country, but this is the first time that the Yankee agency will have its own office in the country, under the excuse of a further collaboration against the “fight against organized crime”. According to the FBI itself, the agency has 10 offices in the rest of the continent.
