More reports on the mobilizations on occasion of the International Women’s Day have been published. We hereby share some of them.

Thousands took to the streets in Brazil, where powerful demonstrations took place in several cities. One of them took place in Parque Novo Mundo, a neighborhood in the northern part of São Paulo. Residents, along with several organizations, among them the People’s Women’s Movement (MFP) took to the streets. The demonstrators rejected the presence of state and city council members who wanted to take advantage of the mobilization. The march blocked the highway and marched against the will of the police who tried to prevent the protesters to continue their mobilization. The march went through the Marcone favela. A Nova Democracia (AND) reports that weeks before the event, residents and neighborhood groups carried out a massive leaflet distribution campaign to inform as many women as possible from the Parque Novo Mundo about it.
