As the strait of Hormuz remains blocked, Gulf States are reportedly shifting the flows of their pipelines in an attempt to circumvent the strait, and keep up exports. These alternative routes are already in use and “are steadily ramping up.”, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

As shown in the above map, one of these “alternative routes” is the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Habshan-Fujairah pipeline, that runs out into the Fujairah oil terminal. This terminal have suffered multiple attacks over the last days, and smoke and fire have been reportedly observed not just in the terminal itself, but also to oil tankers targeted as they attempt to carry oil away from the terminal, indicating again that shipping in the region carries a lot of risk.
Saudia Arabia’s East-West pipeline that runs into western ports in the Red Sea, have surged from 1,7 million barrels per day (mb/d) in 2025, to a daily export of 5,9 mb/d, expected to soon reach the maximum capacity of 7 mb/d. According to statistics regarding ship traffic buildup, a lot more activity is seen at the Saudi Arabian ports in the Red Sea, indicating a shift in oil export activity.

Iraq also recently announced that they would resume their export of crude oil to Turkeys Ceyhan port, circumventing the Gulf and the strait of Hormuz, pumping approximately 250,000 barrels per day through their pipeline.
Despite these gradual shifts in the flow of oil, the price of oil is actually steadily increasing, while remaining at around the 100 USD per barrel mark for a some weeks, it has now surged upwards to 108 from in just a few hours. This comes as a result of the US and Israel having launched attacks targeting the South Pars oil field, the biggest oil field in the world, a clear escalation in the targeting of energy infrastructure in the region.
Israel is still continuing their ground invasion and bombardment of Lebanon, murdering 912 people so far, and injuring 2,221 people. Israel has also destroyed two bridges crossing the Litani River, announcing that “Israel will not allow Hezbollah to use Lebanese state infrastructure”
