Warning Against Police Provocations Against A Nova Democracia

We hereby share an unofficial translation of an article published by A Nova Democracia (AND).

The editorial staff of the newspaper A Nova Democracia publicly calls on readers and supporters in general to increase their vigilance against attempts to link this tribune to illegal revolutionary organizations – suspicious actions that have grown in recent years conducted by fascist police agents exploiting some lack of knowledge about AND’s origins and its Editorial Line.

We wish to clarify that our media is not an organ of any political organization nor is it connected to illegal revolutionary organizations. Especially to younger generations of activists who draw inspiration from the hard work of our tribune, we urge high vigilance toward contacts from anonymous strangers who today, mainly via the internet and under the control of fascist police bodies, pose as representatives of illegal revolutionary or communist organizations or even of this newspaper, and who insistently link AND’s legal and democratic work to illegal revolutionary or communist organizations in Brazil and abroad. These actions are widely known as police provocations, and basic logic would be enough to not fall for them, since no illegal revolutionary organization would assume ties with legal organizations by virtual means under the control of the reactionary State. Although there are some honest individuals who use this practice with the intention and good faith of helping the popular and revolutionary struggle, they easily fall into the trap of aiding the pernicious activity of the political police and other agents of the reaction, who are known to carry out this work aiming at outlawing the legality of democratic organizations by the State and, in particular AND due to its combativeness and firmness. To the younger generations of activists we warn and urge you not to reproduce these fascist police-like provocations or fall into their abundant networks of espionage and informing in the internet era, disguised on virtual networks, because, objectively, this is the work of spies of the old State and of the whole reaction, who seek to infiltrate the revolutionary movement by organizing groups with naive and unsuspecting people to obtain information, promote divisive and snitching actions. They act this way, as if the practice of revisionists and opportunists of the false electoral left – who act as ideological police within the workers’ and popular movement, accusing militants of belonging to clandestine revolutionary organizations – were not enough.

We clarify, once again, that AND is a political editorial project of a popular and democratic character. We are not a communist newspaper, but rather the newspaper of anti-imperialist and every democratic-revolutionary activist, a category that also includes communists. As the name states, it is a newspaper of New Democracy—that is, one that defends and supports the struggle of the popular classes for the revolutionary realization of people’s democracy, led by the proletariat. We are defenders of the democratic and revolutionary struggle that seeks the end of imperialist domination, manifested in foreign domination and its internal supporters, politically upheld by the old State of the big bourgeoisie (comprador-bureaucratic capital of banks, industry, mining, large trade and services) and big landlords (the agro-export latifundium). We are defenders of the anti-imperialist struggle, of the national liberation struggle and of Agrarian Revolution in oppressed countries, that is, a New Democratic Revolution uninterrupted toward Socialism. We are defenders of immediate Socialist Revolution in imperialist countries. We are defenders of the glorious heritage of the international proletariat and of the revolutionary peoples of the world. We are a newspaper of the popular and democratic press, on which all revolutionaries, democrats, progressives, internationalists and anti-imperialists can rely.
