Ireland: The IRPWA’s Vital Role

We hereby share a statement issued by the Irish Republican Prisoners Welfare Association (IRPWA).

The Irish Republican Prisoners Welfare Association continues to play a vital role in highlighting the ongoing reality that Irish Republican Prisoners still exist today. Despite attempts to portray the ‘conflict’ as consigned to history, there remain men and women imprisoned as a direct consequence of their political beliefs and activities.

We stand in solidarity with these republican prisoners and recognise the immense burden placed on them, their families and their local communities. The struggle does not end at the prison gates, it is carried daily by loved ones who endure hardship, stigma, and separation.

We encourage all who value justice and human rights to support the prisoners and their families in any way they can. Whether through advocacy, raising awareness, or practical assistance, your support matters. 

Standing with our republican prisoners is standing for dignity, fairness, and the right of communities to have their voices heard.
