Chile – Retake Recabarren and the Ránquil Path!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement published by Newspaper El Pueblo on occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the coup d’état in Chile.

The fascist coup of September 11, 1973, was not the work of Pinochet and his henchmen alone: it was planned by Yankee imperialism, with Nixon, Kissinger, and the CIA orchestrating economic sabotage and financing the far right.

Their goal wasn’t to “save democracy,” but to crush the revolutionary process. Let’s remember that, although many had hopes in Allende, they overstepped their legal boundaries.

The coup d’état was intended to destroy worker, peasant, and popular organizations and ensure the continuation of bureaucratic, semi-feudal, and semi-colonial capitalism, which to this day condemns the people to starvation wages, thieving pension funds, and poverty in housing, healthcare, and education.

Reformists insist on the illusion of a “peaceful path” but history tells us otherwise: rebellion is the only way out. The path of the Ránquil uprising in 1934 is what we have to retake and develop.

We vindicate those who fell fighting and call for the promotion and development of popular protest, denouncing and rejecting the bureaucratic approach to elections and their entire farce.

Today the task is clear: Reconstitute the true proletarian Party based on Recabarren, with its own combat force and a united front to conquer power for the people.

If the ruling classes and imperialism are offering us unjust wars, death, elections and suffering, the people must embody the truth:

It is right to rebel!

Down with the electoral circus!

Death to Imperialism: Yankees Go Home!
