
The Struggle in Peru Continues: At Least 19 Injured in Lima

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Lima in several demonstrations that happened over the past weekend. Many young people mobilized combatively, charging against police barricades and marching toward the Congress. They were joined by transport workers in a 48-hour strike.

However, this did not deter the protesters, who charged against the barricades and the police cordon:



According to local reports, protesters were heavily repressed b peru-30sept-1-3y the police, which has been widely condemned. The National Police of Peru (PNP) has fired pellets at protesters and journalists, attempted to shoot them in the eyes, and has indiscriminately assaulted various individuals, including elderly people:
The protesters have responded to this violence with resistance in the streets, leading to numerous clashes, in which at least 19 people have been injured:
