Ecuador: MORE MURDERS BY THE HYENAS OF REACTION. TERRORISM SHOWS DESPICABLE CHARACTER OF THE OLD STATE

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement from the Defense Front of the People’s Struggles of Ecuador.

HONOR AND GLORY TO EFRAÍN FUEREZ, ROSA PAQUI, AND JOSÉ GUAMÁN!

The hyenas of reaction claim two new victims. Added to the murder of Efraín Fuerez is Rosa Elena Paqui, in Saraguro-Loja; she died of cardio-respiratory arrest caused by forced inhalation of tear gas.

In Otavalo, our comrade José Alberto Guamán was shot in the chest and murdered. Should we forget and forgive these crimes? Are we going to wait while the opportunistic leaders of the indigenous, peasant, union, and popular movements traffic and negotiate with the blood of our martyrs?

Otavalo, La Esperanza, Ilumán, and Ibarra have reported injuries: burst eyes, mutilations, rifle wounds. Cruelty and brutality from a fascist and miserable regime. We demand truth, justice, and punishment for those responsible. Don’t forgive, don’t forget!

We are clear that this uprising is rebellious, and also that there are important advances: the masses want little or nothing to do with CONAIE (its leadership), the dunghill of Pachakutik, Correa supporters and the like. The masses are committed to the struggle because the regime’s anti-people’s and hunger-inducing measures directly affect their interests.

We must persist in the uprising; that is what is important. Negotiations with the regime? Only when it is willing to reverse its decision to eliminate diesel subsidies; otherwise, we must resolutely sustain the indigenous-peasant-people’s uprising.

Cynically, the puppet government and its repressive apparatus talk of “returning to calm, to peace.” What peace, if under this government Ecuador is literally one of the most violent countries in the world? The peace of the suburbs where there are daily massacres? The “peace” of the Zionist model of bombing with warplanes within the territory, as in Buenos Aires, Imbabura? The peace of homes where no one works and food is scarce? In truth, they are scoundrels and clowns.

On the other hand, a powerful bomb attack in Guayaquil has put the government “on alert,” especially because it occurred in a commercial area very close to the offices of the Nobis chain, owned by the Noboa family. This act has made the regime nervous, which, incidentally, is trying to link this attack to the people’s uprising.

In Imbabura, 7,000 repressive forces gathered to massacre the masses. In Guayaquil, three massacres were recorded during the last week; in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, one; in the most recent, a family of eight from Quito was kidnapped in Santo Domingo, tortured, and murdered, bringing the chilling total to 30 people executed in these massacres, not counting selective murders, disappearances, dismemberments, etc. None of this has mattered to the regime or the Guayaquil bourgeoisie; however, this attack has upset them and made them nervous. Will they now finally worry about the levels of violence in the country and stop repressing the people?

The masses are not fooled; let us not fall into the trap of the fascists who want to associate “false flag” actions with the uprising to delegitimize the people’s struggle.

People of Ecuador, let us do everything possible to ensure that fear and terror change sides. Let them, the enemies of the people, also experience unrest; let pain and anguish also visit their garden.

Twenty-four days of strike action. More than during the uprisings of 2019 and 2022; the key is the limited influence of the CONAIE leadership in the revolt.

It is up to the working class, the people, the peasants, and the poor indigenous peoples to open new fronts in the struggle. We must not allow the enemy of the vast majority to concentrate all its criminal potential in a single province. We must drag them everywhere; only then will we wear them down.
