MFP Event Celebrates International Proletarian Women’s Day in Brazil

The People’s Women’s Movement (MFP) of Brazil reported on a successful event carried out on 8th of March to celebrate International Proletarian Women’s Day. Over 20 comrades, MFP activists, peasants, and students, celebrated the event “Woman and the Anti-Imperialist Struggle” focusing on the political and international situation and the role of women in the revolution.

The event began with the singing of “The Internationale” and by greeting the comrades, especially those from the League of the Poor Peasants (LCP), who are veterans in the struggle, and the struggles of the peoples in the world, highlighting the Palestinian National Resistance and the ongoing People’s Wars in Peru, India, Turkey, and the Philippines.

The first presentation discussed the origin of 8th of March, proposed by comrade Clara Zetkin at the II Conference of Socialist Women, and the class origin of patriarchy with the birth of private property. MFP’s line was discussed, stating that “only with the transformation of all the base structures of this society of exploitation and oppression, can patriarchy and the oppression of women in particular also be destroyed.

The oppression in Third World countries was addressed, highlighting the role of latifundium, which keeps production backwards, the role of bureaucratic capitalism, imposed by imperialism on oppressed countries and which maintains semi-feudal productions, and the role of imperialism as “a monopolistic, parasitic, decomposing, and agonizing capitalism.” MFP highlighted the lessons of Chairman Mao that imperialism and all reactionaries are paper tigers, and that it is a system doomed to destruction and will be erased from the face of the earth, as declared in 1962, in the “next 50 to 100 years,”. Also the words of Chairman Gonzalo, that the imperialist system is in its final phase of a general crisis of decomposition.

In the following presentation, the political situation was addressed, highlighting the increase of the anti-imperialist struggle, especially after the Al-Aqsa Flood. It was noted that a New Period of Revolutions has begun in world history and that the increasing imperialist plunder and dispute, with examples like Ukraine, Venezuela, Iran, or the increase in Yankee troops in Latin America, shows the fragility of this system doomed to failure. The comrades at the event showed internationalism with the prisoners of war of the Popular Army of Paraguay, imprisoned and tortured by the Paraguayan State, as well as with the kidnapping, murder, and forced disappearance of children linked to imprisoned comrades.

The event was decorated with flags of the LCP, the Anti-Imperialist League, and Palestine, as well as images of comrade Sandra Lima and comrade Norah.

The national political situation and the need for a New Democratic Revolution, starting with the Agrarian Revolution, was also addressed. The comrades were called to give an impulse to the political struggle, in the class struggle and in the struggle for land, to take all the lands of the latifundium and defend them with armed peasant self-defense. Bourgeois parties were described as servants of imperialism and latifundium and, consequently, the need to boycott elections and the mobilization, politicization, and organization of all the people, especially women, for the revolutionary struggle was highlighted.

The comrades then spoke about the persecution of popular movements, especially in the struggle for land, about the living conditions and injustices suffered by the poor, and about the need to organize and bring together more comrades for the struggle. The debate was very rich and included the participation of experienced and young comrades who are on the front lines of the revolutionary struggle in the region.

The event concluded with the singing of the hymn of the People’s Women’s Movement and anti-imperialist slogans such as “Awaken the revolutionary fury of women!”; “Only with the struggle and proletarian revolution will women be freed from all oppression,!”; and “Yankees out of Latin America, Israel out of Palestinian lands!”. At the end, a video of international solidarity with the anti-imperialist struggle around the world was recorded, in an homage to the initiative of the International Anti-Imperialist League.

The male comrades of the LCP participated with support tasks, such as childcare, who put on a children’s theater showing episodes of proletarian and anti-imperialist struggle.
