On September 18, hundreds of thousands of people rallied in Tehran in a government-organized show of support for national defense. The campaign, called “Janfaday-e Iran,” was presented as a volunteer effort to support the country’s defense alongside the Revolutionary Guard and Basij. Iranian officials said more than 600,000 people had registered for limited military training; state television estimated that over 300,000 attended the rally.

Iran has also continued to demonstrate its ability to threaten US regional assets. A US tally listed 81 military aircraft as lost or damaged since the war began. This highlight the strain Iranian attacks place on US air defenses, considering further that the numbers are most likely even higher. Iran has also maintained its pressure on shipping and multiple attack have occurred. Many also with an unconfirmed attacker.

On October 6, Iranian Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami-Nia stated Iran had a stockpile of newly developed offensive equipment, including missiles and drones, and that production continued during the war. He also said Iran was working to increase missile range and speed, citing US forces stationed up to about 1,000 kilometers from Iran’s coast.

Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Washington had sent proposals through intermediaries, particularly Qatar, and that Tehran was reviewing them. But he said Iran would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz until its seven conditions in the Islamabad memorandum were met.

Amid these ‘negotiations’ with Iran, yankee imperialism has threatened a possible three-day campaign against Iranian missile and drone facilities, energy infrastructure, and Revolutionary Guard sites. Trump has declared that attacks on Iran will wait until after the midterm elections in November 3, this decision undoubtedly affected by the rising fuel prices – gasoline has risen 46.6% and diesel 71.1%.

Iran has in turn reaffirmed that new attacks would ignite Iran to target US assets.
