Brazil: Homage song to Cleomar Rodrigues
This 22nd of October was the 10th anniversary of the cowardly murder by the latifundium of comrade Cleomar Rodrigues, leader of the League of the Poor Peasants Northern Minas and Souther Bahia and member of the National Commission. On this occasion, the group Canto Geral published a song in his honor entitled “Cleomar vive!”
The goal of the latifundium by this murder was to drown the struggle for land in blood, but it was worthless! The shred blood of Comrade Cleomar still irrigates the struggle for land and is more alive than ever in the land seizures all over the country, so the Revolutionary Area where he lived and which today has his name, the group stated.
The occasion is also taken to denounce the bourgeois judicial system, which did nothing to persecute the real organizers of the murder of Comrade Cleomar and other cases all over the country, showing the class character of the judicial system itself. It is also to denounce that this year the violence against the peasants has increased and that to defend the resistance in a violent way is the only solution to conquer land and assure its self-defense.
Lastly, they affirm that they can only achieve vengeance with the triumph of the revolution, however, as the own LCP states, everyone that carries out crimes against peasants must pay for them now. And is it stated: “The risk of the stick, the ax has as well!”.
