France: Statement by the National Bureau of LJR and JR on Georges Ibrahim Abdallah

A day after a historical day of mobilizations, in which more than 33 cities answered to the national call of the Unitary Campaign for the Liberation of Georges Abdallah, where more than two thousand people gathered in front of the State institutions, on November 15 another historical news became known. The Sentence Enforcement Court has announce its verdict and has orderer that Georges Abdallah must be released and sent to his native Lebanese land.
Correct, “the Sentence Enforcement Court has granted Georges Ibrahim Abdallah the benefit of conditional freedom from December 6, subordinated to the condition of leaving the national territory and never came back”, announced the National anti-terrorist prosecutor, before appealing the decision.
“This is an enormous political and juridical victory”, stated the lawyer of Georges Abdallah, Jean-Louis Chalanset. There is no doubt that the strong struggle of the last years and the outstanding year 2024 has been decisive for this decision, and we must keep and continue to ensure that the maintenance in detention of Georges Abdallah costs more to the State than his release. Our mobilization must be on the political and people’s ground, united and combative until Georges sets a feet in the ground of the cedar land and he is truly free.
George is made out of the Palestinian and Lebanese people, he never raised the white banner of capitulation, and today he keeps high his principles, he is a symbol of resilience and resistance. We affirm, once again, that the tribunal decision matters little, we will struggle until his freedom.
In two or three months there will be a new hearing, because the anti-terrorist prosecutor, outraged as the State, has appealed this decision, in an intent of keeping Georges in prison until the end of his days, showing a complete lack of respect to the French and European law, pure vengeance from the State against a combatant for freedom.
So, it is important to develop everywhere once again the coordination of the mobilization to support George through the Unitary Campaign for this liberation, and to sum all forces to the struggle plan of the Unitary Campaign so it guides the sum of our forces so Georges will be free. Don’t fall into the trap of just waiting until the process, but let’s show the State just the contrary, a full interest to free our comrade!
