A Nova Democracia defeats Zionist censorship

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report published by A Nova Democracia (AND) on a victory it has achieved against the Zionist censorship carried out by the bourgeois monopolies.

AND has a favorable preliminary verdict against YouTube/Google and gains full access to the channel’s journalistic material

The newspaper A Nova Democracia, supported by the law firm Flora, Matheus and Mangabeira (FMMSA) and by the dozens of progressive, democratic and revolutionary personalities, entities and organizations that took part in the solidarity campaign for our tribune, triumphed over the technology mega-company Google/YouTube and won a favorable preliminary verdict on an urgent basis that gives our tribune full access to the journalistic material stored on the AND channel on the video platform. The victory was announced today (February 19) to AND by the lawyers who took part in the defense of our tribune.

The lawsuit was filed in response to the censorship that YouTube applied to the AND channel because of our courageous and intrepid journalistic coverage of the war of national liberation of the Palestinian people, particularly since October 7, 2023. AND was the first Brazilian people’s newspaper to launch a program on YouTube entirely dedicated to covering the National Resistance struggle and denouncing the genocide on the Palestinian people.

The substitute judge of the Court responsible for the AND process issued an “urgent decision” so that YouTube “allows A NOVA DEMOCRACIA full access to the journalistic material broadcasted on the YouTube platform (“A Nova Democracia”).

YouTube has a period of 48 hours to allow AND to access its own content, under penalty of a daily fine of R$ 500 if it does not comply with the order.

The resounding victory of AND occurred without our tribune reducing the level of commitment to journalistic coverage of the war of national liberation of the Palestinian people. In the days immediately following the complaint, AND broadcast the program Plantão Palestina on Instagram and Twitch and followed up with the publication of dozens of notes about Palestine on its online portal. Today, AND has an Instagram page dedicated exclusively to covering the war in Palestine.

Thanks to this victory, the triumph of AND, the solidarity lawyers and all the participants in the solidarity campaign, the people’s tribune will be able to rescue thousands of videos, the result of years of journalistic coverage on the ground in the favelas and in the countryside of the country, side by side with the people’s masses. Among them, there have been exclusive coverage of peasant struggles, police massacres in the favelas and in peasant camps and protests.

The newspaper A Nova Democracia salutes the FMMSA lawyers and all the activists, organizations and entities that participated in the solidarity campaign with AND. AND also urges everyone to continue mobilizing in defense of the people’s and democratic press, because the process will continue so that the channel is reestablished and our tribune achieves other victories. The battle is won, but the war continues. This is Palestine!
