Periódico Mural (México) on the international campaign for the alive presentation of Sandra Domínguez

We hereby publish an unofficial translation of an article by Periódico Mural:

We have been informed that the German revolutionary newspaper “Rote Post” (“Red Post”) recently reported on the disappearance of Sandra Dominguez. The blog “Rote Presse” (“Red Press”) shared the 4 issues from August to November 2024. Each of these reports on the struggle of the international proletariat and the oppressed peoples, such as especially the heroic Palestinian National Resistance and the struggle for land in Brazil and the people’s resistance facing the war against the people, as well as the daily and urgent problems of the German proletariat, such as the lack of housing and day care, the dismissal of thousands of workers in the automobile industry, etc. In other articles they denounce the militarization plans of German imperialism and analyze its political and economic crisis.

We salute their exemplary proletarian internationalism, and we are very pleased to note that two of the four covers have photos of our country. Below, we share an unofficial translation of the article about Sandra Domínguez that we have received:

Sandra Estéfana Domínguez Martínez
¡Presentación con vida!

On October 4, Sandra Estéfana Domínguez Martínez, the sister of a comrade from the Current of the People – Red Sun, Kenia, disappeared in the city of María Lombardo de Caso, San Juan Cotzocón Mixe, in the Mexican State of Oaxaca. Sandra’s family held a press conference with the support of the Current of the People – Red Sun and Consorcio Oaxaca.

Sandra Estéfana Domínguez Martínez is an Ayuuk indigenous lawyer, a feminist by conviction and a human rights defender who was part of the Network of Women Activists and Human Rights Defenders of Oaxaca, which in 2020 and 2023 had filed a criminal complaint against Donato Vargas Jiménez, currently State Coordinator of Peace Delegates of the Government of the State of Oaxaca, for crimes of sexual violence after his participation in a WhatsApp chat called “Sierra XXX” where photographs and videos with sexual content were disseminated exhibiting Ayuuk indigenous women without their consent. In this context, Ms. Sandra Domínguez accompanied dozens of female victims of violence in the Sierra Mixe and provided them with the necessary legal advice.

The accusations and complaints against Donato Vargas and other State and federal officials transcended the criminal sphere when the victims in an organized manner revealed the harassment and threats against them. None of this prevented the current Governor of Oaxaca from appointing Donato Vargas to the position he currently holds.

The popular and democratic newspaper Periódico Mural has explained the context in which this disappearance occurred: “Unfortunately today Sandra Domínguez is part of the more than 600 women who disappeared in the state of Oaxaca during the alomón Jara Cruz government and of the more than 116 thousand people who have disappeared throughout the country since the beginning of the war against the people that has gone through three stages: ‘the dirty war’, ‘the war against drugs’ and the current militarization of the country.”

This case has already received a lot of national and international attention. Even the new president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has been confronted with this in parliament by a deputy, who, as Vargas’s former partner, has experienced patriarchal violence herself. However, Sheinbaum ignored Sandra’s kidnapping, which shows that for the people in general and people’s women in particular it makes no difference which lackey is at the head of the State. The demand regarding Sandra is clear:

BECAUSE THEY TOOK HER ALIVE, WE WANT HER ALIVE!
