ECUADOR: ETERNAL HONOR AND GLORY TO THE PROFESSOR CELEDONIO LUIS SANTIBÁÑEZ!
Hereby we publish an unofficial translation of a statement published by the Front to Defend the Struggles of the People of Ecuador (FDLP-EC).
With profound respect and revolutionary determination, the Front to Defend the Struggles of the People of Ecuador, expresses its deepest feelings of revolutionary solidarity towards the Current of the People Red Sun of Mexico, regarding the loss of Profesor Celedonio Luis Santibáñez, son of the Zapotec people, teacher in mountain- and countryside, tireless constructor of people’s organization, and harvester of red sunrises.
From the midst of the Xiche valley and the escolar trenches to the streets taken by the righteous indignation of the people, the “Profe” Celedonio was more than a teacher: he was militant of the people’s cause, a committed organizer, an ideological combatant that didn’t doubt to take up word and action as the most sincere expression of the correct ideological line of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.
Forged in the peasants poverty, tempered in the escolar struggle, and always upholding the flag of the exploited, Professor Celedonio was part of the heroic generation that doesn’t backs down facing difficulties, that doesn’t bow neither towards the union’s treason nor to State terror, and that plants people’s organization in midst of coffee peasants, workers, students and toilers in the city and the countryside.
Today his name will be carved in the list of the indispensables. For the Ecuadorian Class and people, the Professor Celedonio, as well as Ernesto Sernas, Luis Amando Aquino, Félix, Juan Manuel, Eustaquio, makes part of this solid and shining historical legacy that we, the oppressed peoples of the world have forged in our tireless struggle to destroy and sepulture once and for ever the exploitation and oppression.
The Professor has not died: he lives in every poor community’s school, every independent union, every family of resistance, every trench in which the organization of those is upheld who are willing to write the history in red and with firm fist.
His mark, footprint, and flame will never vanish: they are light and guidance, living legacy that summon to compromise, not only for the masses of Mexico, but also for the oppressed peoples of the world, to keep on pushing forward tirelessly, regardless the throw backs and the shadows, with the certainty that the struggle is just and the victory ours.
Out of this trench of struggle we embrace his comrades, his family, the people of Oaxaca that he loved, and whom he served that much, to the toilers and peoples with whom he shared his live.
