CUPLGIA: Call for Mobilization on 17th of April

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a call that we have received from the Unitary Campaign for the Liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah (CUPLGIA).

Together, we will win!

Final sprint for the liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah!

Freedom for the Palestinian prisoners and all the political prisoners!

On April 17th, a day of anger and international solidarity, let’s take to the streets to struggle against this prison system that assassinates resistance members and protects the oppressors.

From Palestine to Kanaky, from Turkish jails to Zionist dungeons, from the detention of Corsican militants to Basque independence activists, from Chilean and Mapuche resistors to Indian revolutionaries: everywhere, the criminalization of political struggles is a tool used by States to deter resistance to oppression.

France, a champion of rhetoric on human rights, continues to detain the longest lasting political prisoner in Europe. Georges Ibrahim Abdallah is living proof of the relentless pursuit by imperialist powers against those who dare to challenge them.

Lebanese communist and combatant for Palestine, Georges Ibrahim Abdallah has been behind the walls of French prisons for more than forty years! Despite ten requests for release and growing outrage on both national and international levels, the French State stubbornly insists on keeping him imprisoned.

His detention is a POLITICAL CRIME, a state vengeance against those who stand up against the powerful. Last November 15th, the courts ordered his release. However, the prosecutor’s appeal, acting on behalf of the government, which was initially scheduled for February, has been postponed to a new hearing on June 19th. April 17th thus marks a new stage in our united battle plan for his release: let’s mobilize massively! Let’s increase the pressure and strengthen our position to secure the ultimate victory in this long struggle: his liberation!

But Georges Abdallah is not alone: around the world, those who resist are in prison for challenging imperialism and colonialism: Christian Téin and the Kanak prisoners struggling for the liberation of Kanaky; Anaan Yaeesh, a Palestinian resistance member imprisoned in Italy; Mumia Abu-Jamal, a Black Panther symbolizing racist repression in the United States; Kurdish, Turkish, and Armenian political prisoners locked up for their revolutionary or national commitment… all of them are targets of States for refusing to be submitted.

Let’s come together to affirm that every political prison built will be destroyed, that every imprisoned activist will be freed. Our combat will not stop! Not as long as one of ours is in prison for their ideas, for their actions! Not as long as imperialism continues its crimes and devastation! Together, we will win!

Join us on April 17th at 7 PM in Paris, Place de la République.

Let’s make this day a moment of struggle and hope.

For the victory or victory!

Freedom for all political prisoners!

Long live international solidarity!
