A combative demonstration by mothers and family members of victims of police violence in Rio de Janeiro demands urgency in the accusatory processes against murder police officers.
On the morning of June 11, more than 70 people, including mothers, family members, and supporters of victims of police violence, held a combative act in front of the Public Ministry of the State (MPE). They marched, arriving in front of the MPE entrance, and demanded that prosecutor André Dantas comes down to explain why the cases accusing the police officers who murdered their children have been left untouched for over 6, 8, and 14 years, with some even at risk of being dismissed.

The mothers and other family members in their speeches have demonstrated full awareness that the Brazilian Judiciary serves the ruling classes of big landlords, bankers, and industrial bourgeoisie, as well as the State, municipal, and federal governments that wage a true war against the poor, primarily victimizing young black people living in the peripheries and favelas, and also in the countryside.
Being part of the war means murdering children and adolescents, as they are a surplus population that bureaucratic capitalism in Brazil does not provide with either jobs nor decent living conditions. But the rich are afraid, that they can rebel. The solution, then, is murdering and incarceration. In various interventions during the act, it became clear that this macabre action has a stone on its path: the mothers and family members who do not accept extermination. Even though the struggle they wage against the obstacles to achieve justice has made many of them ill, the support network they form allows them to remain strong.
