Ireland: Anti-Imperialist Action Condemns Draconian Measures Against Irish Republicans
We hereby share a note published by An Phoblacht Abú on a repressive case against Irish Repuublicans.
Anti Imperialist Action Ireland condemns today’s gaoling of Two East Tyrone Republicans under Britain’s policy of Internment by Remand following their appearance before the British Occupation Courts.
Internment by Remand is a draconian policy that sees Irish Republican Activists arrested on trumped up political charges, and refused bail by the Occupation Courts, spending up to 5 years on remand when the case against them is either dropped or collapses.
The two Republicans who are being interned today are on their way to the MI5 concentration camp where they face strip searches and other forms of torture.
It is not lost on Republicans that the two men dragged before the Occupation Courts today played a prominent role in Saturday’s Anti Internment March in Glasgow, that was attend by members of AIA, and gave prominent coverage to an issue British Imperialism would prefer to keep covered up.
AIA calls for the immediate release of these two men, and of All Republicans held across Ireland. Internment was wrong in August 1971 and it’s wrong today in August 2025.
We call on all Republicans and Socialists in Ireland to demand an end to British Internment.
If you are not willing to raise the issue of internment by remand or the plight of Irish Republican Prisoners of War, then you are neither a Republican or a Socialist.
