Finland: Anti-Fascist Panel Discussion on September 21

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report by the Anti-Imperialist Collective (AIK) published by Punalippu.

We participated in an anti-fascist panel discussion on Sunday, September 21. The room was filled with people. The panelists included representatives from a wide range of organizations.

There were disagreements on all issues, but there was a broad consensus among the panelists and the audience on the need to develop anti-fascist cooperation and for the unity of anti-fascism and the defense of democratic rights.

The AIK speeches explained how fascism is a system of government created by imperialism and specific to it, and the tendency towards this. We emphasized the crucial, and in the case of the Republic of Finland, the criminal role of the State, when it allows fascists to organize, enforces their freedom of assembly, and seeks to suppress and criminalize the anti-fascist struggle.

Resistance and struggle by the masses is essential. The audience responded to the panelists’ responses with enthusiastic statements, such as “If we want peace, we have to struggle for it!”

Everyone to Helsinki on December 6!
