Ecuador – NO FEAR, NO TRUCE: THE KARANKI PEOPLE CALL TO ORGANIZE, COMBAT, AND RESIST

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement by the Defense Front of the People’s Struggles of Ecuador (FDLP-EC) on the current protests that are taking place in the country.

Today marked another day of struggle in the city of Ibarra.

A march of more than 2,500 comrades, peasants, indigenous people of the Karanki people, artisans, workers, students, filled the streets, continuing the indigenous-people’s uprising.

This day confirms that the peasant and indigenous grassroots remain steadfast in the struggle, persisting in their goals against the fascist government of Noboa.

The march of the Karanki people (Plurinational Parliament) stood in front of the Mayor’s Office to denounce the mayor and his maneuvers to quell the rebellion by mobilizing the most reactionary sectors of the city. Similarly, they went en masse to the Prosecutor’s Office to demand punishment for the executioners of the people. They also went to the city jail to confirm the return of three of the twelve comrades from Otavalo, unjustly arrested and confined in the Portoviejo jail. We are still waiting for the return of the remaining nine comrades.

There were also moments of conflict due to the clumsy attempts by the police to neutralize the march, provoking disturbances that arose precisely from their repressive actions.

The dignified Karanki people remain steadfast in their struggle, echoing the demands of the broad masses and honoring the memory of comrade Efraín Fuerez, murdered by the criminal army, as well as all those who have been victims of this submissive, starving, lying, and repressive regime.

LONG LIVE THE MOBILIZATION OF THE KARANKI PEOPLE!

FREEDOM FOR THE TWELVE OF OTAVALO!

LONG LIVE THE WORKERS’-PEASANTS’-PEOPLE’S ALLIANCE!

ORGANIZE, COMBAT AND RESIST!
